Testing Instrument
Possible Negative Impacts
FID
Hydrocarbon will increase the interfering noise and influence the sensitivity of the FID devices. The impurities will block the column and damage the instruments.
MS
Hydrocarbon will increase the interfering noise and influence the sensitivity of the MS devices. The impurities will block the column and damage the instruments.
TCD
Impurities will oxidize the parts of the instruments, decrease the detecting sensitivity, create negative peak and result in the damage of the instruments.
ECD
Vapor and oxygen will decrease the sensitivity of the ECD, halocarbon will increase the noise and result in negative peak.

If the gas quality is unsure
If the pollutions of valve and tube are inevitable
If you expect the most accurate analytic results
If you want to avoid damage and maintenance for your GC
